Experience a full evening in the 17th century

Let yourself be transported back to the 17th century. Between theatrical scenes, musical interludes and lyrical flights of fancy, be transported by a show where humour, intrigue and the art of entertainment come together for a timeless evening.
The Troupe de Hautefort, directed by Christian Croset and Vitto Vittoretti, is proud to present a new show: «En attendant le Roi» (Waiting for the King), for memorable theatrical evenings. Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, from 9 July. Limited number of places, online booking only. 4 sessions per evening.

New: show ticket + traditional dinner

A unique menu cooked in the 17th-century bread oven will be served in the formal gardens. It will consist of a roast pig and its traditional vegetables, followed by a delicious fruity dessert. Children's menu available.

The unexpected at the Château de Hautefort

Here's what you'll discover this year: while two guides want to show visitors around the Château, the unexpected arrival of ghostly characters, all from the 17th century, will happily disrupt this impossible visit! Marie from Hautefort, the Marquis Jacques-François, their guests, marquises and précieuses, a dancing master and a singing master will lead you on a wild evening at the Château.

During this playful evocation of the Great Century, you'll follow the occupations and preoccupations of the Hautefort court: learning to sing and dance, hoping for the arrival of the Sun King, laughing, being moved and having fun. And in the end, when the golden ghosts take their place in history, you'll be left with the memory of a unique night at the Château de Hautefort.

The story of a passion

The Hautefort troupe

Formed 4 years ago by Christian Croset and his sidekick Vitto Vittoretti, the Troupe de Hautefort is a merry band of people who are passionate about theatre, history and sharing. Around the famous director and teacher at the Cours Florent, a group of amateur actors have come together, driven by the same desire to take our visitors through the ages with humour, fantasy and grace. There were about ten of them. This year, there will be 25 of them. 25 people from Périgord, aged between 6 months and 73 years, ready to conjure up the ghosts of the Grand Siècle from the walls of our château. Once again, we're delighted to welcome their talents and enthusiasm to the Hautefort showcase, for a series of original nocturnes that promise to be full of surprises and emotions.
