Frequently asked questions
Your ticket gives you access to the entire estate, the Château de Hautefort, the tour route, including the immersive areas, the historic flats, as well as the formal gardens and the English park. Your ticket includes a guided tour of the château and gardens.
Certain specific experiences (restaurants, bread oven workshop, evening events, cultural events) require a ticket or additional booking.
The complete tour of the château, immersive areas and gardens lasts an average of 2 to 2? hours. Depending on your own pace and the activities on offer, you can allow more time on site.
Online booking is not compulsory but strongly recommended in high season and during school holidays. Online booking is compulsory for certain events, such as evening events.
Yes, the tour is suitable for families. The immersive displays, stories and gardens are particularly appealing to children. A welcome booklet is available on request from the ticket office to satisfy the curiosity of 5-8 year olds. There's also an attractive family pack (2 adults and 2 juniors).
The château is a historic monument and is only partially accessible. The gardens and ground floor areas are accessible. Unfortunately, the upper floors are not. Our staff will be happy to help you get around and, if you wish, show you around the upstairs areas using a specially designed photographic booklet. Adapted parking spaces are available.
Pushchairs are allowed in our formal gardens, our English park and the main courtyard of the château. However, pushchairs are not permitted in the rooms of the château due to the particularly fragile staircases and wooden floors. A parking space is reserved for them across the main courtyard.
Yes, there is a catering service on the estate (lunch, afternoon tea, dinner in the evening). The day before your visit, you can reserve a table in our restaurant «Le Dix-Sept» when you buy your ticket online. You can also reserve a table by telephone before 11am on the day of your visit, or in person at the restaurant. Please note that the number of places is limited. Picnic tables are also available in the English park.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the courtyard of honour or in the rooms of the château (even when carried in a bag), with the exception of guide dogs. However, we do offer a pet-sitting service, which you can request when you visit the ticket office, so that you can visit the château in complete peace of mind. Pets are allowed on a lead in our 30 hectares of English parkland and 3 hectares of formal gardens. Water is available for them at the entrance to the estate.
Photographs without flash are authorised for personal use only. All professional or commercial photography requires prior authorisation, as does the use of drones.
Yes, the château offers theatrical evenings and evening events on certain dates. Conditions and times are specified at the time of booking.
Visits to the château are mainly indoors. For the park and gardens, we advise you to adapt your clothing according to the weather conditions.
Yes, the Château de Hautefort is still inhabited by its owners, which makes for a very special visit, particularly in the private flats.
Yes, there's a shop at the end of the tour, offering a selection of products related to history, heritage and local produce.
You do not need to book for the guided tours of the château and gardens held each day. However, you must reserve your place for the bread oven workshops when you visit the ticket office.
Not for the moment. However, we hope to find a solution over the next few months that will allow you to access the restaurant without paying your entrance fee to the château.
By booking your tickets online, you can avoid queuing at the ticket office on busy days.
Yes, you can picnic in our park. Several tables are provided for this purpose. And if you've forgotten the drinks or ice creams, you can stock up in our restaurant.
Yes, we offer a special family rate of €38, which includes admission for 2 adults and 2 juniors (aged 7 to 14). here
Yes, we offer a reduced rate for jobseekers on presentation of a France Travail registration certificate, for people with disabilities on presentation of the mobility inclusion card or the RQTH certificate, for students under 15 on presentation of the student card and for journalists on presentation of the press card.

Bread oven workshops are free. In June, they are scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays at 10am and 11.30am. In July and August, they are scheduled from Monday to Friday at 10am and 11.30am. To take part, you need to reserve your place at the ticket office. It is not possible to book online. Please note that the number of places is limited. We advise you to come as soon as the château opens.
